Oval Maidan
Oval Maidan is a large Grade I recreational ground situated in South Mumbai, Maharashtra. It is so named because of its oval shape and is located just south of Churchgate. This popular recreation ground is known for hosting cricket and football matches, making it a favorite spot for sports enthusiasts.
The ground measures 22 acres (8.9 hectares) and is surrounded by several historic landmarks, including the University of Mumbai campus and the majestic Rajabai Clock Tower.
Oval Maidan has a rich history dating back to the British era and has been a training ground for many famous cricketers. It is also a heritage structure, enlisted in the Grade I heritage list, and is well-maintained by the Oval-Cooperage Residents Association (OCRA).
The OCRA took over the maintenance of the ground in 1997 after a successful petition to the Mumbai High Court.
