Parola Fort, located in Jalgaon district, Maharashtra, is a historic fort built in 1726 by Sadashiv Rao Damodar Newalkar, the great-grandfather-in-law of Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi. The fort is situated on the bank of the Bori River and features classic 16th- to 18th-century architecture, including seven gates with the main one called "Delhi Darwaja."
The fort served as a defensive structure with bastions and ramparts to protect against invaders. Parola is also known as the native place of Rani Lakshmibai, with historical ties to her family, including the birth of her adopted son Anand Rao in the town. Besides the fort, Parola houses the famous Shree Balaji Temple, over 345 years old, which hosts an annual procession attracting many visitors.
Though some parts of the fort were dismantled by the British, remnants like the gates and ramparts remain as a testimony to its rich heritage, making it a notable historical and cultural landmark in the region.
