Pisola fort
Pisola Fort is a historic fort located about 125 km from Nashik in the Nashik district of Maharashtra, positioned on the border between Dhule and Nashik districts. Although its exact age is unknown, it dates back several centuries and likely originated in the medieval period. The fort sits at an elevation of roughly 3,500 feet and is surrounded by farm fields and lush greenery.
It is a relatively easy climb, taking about an hour to reach the top, but it is less visited by trekkers. The remaining structures include a small mosque in good condition on the western edge, the rock-cut arch gate of a pleasure palace called Rang Mahal with walls mostly fallen, and two rock-cut water cisterns near the entrance featuring figures of Nandi bulls and Lingams.
The base village for the fort is Wadi Pisola, about 35 km from Satana town, which is 90 km from Nashik. Pisola Fort offers a peaceful trekking experience with scenic views, and while it is mostly in ruins, it attracts visitors for its historical significance and natural beauty. It lies among a line of forts on the Galna hill range and is known for solitude and nature around it. There are also temples maintained by nearby farmers on the way up, and the area is forested, adding to the trekking challenge and ambiance.
