Raipur Rani Fort

Raipur Rani Fort, located in Panchkula district, Haryana, was built by a Chauhan Rajput king who came from Ajmer in the 18th century. The fort is part of the town of Raipur Rani, founded in 1420 by Rao Rai Singh, who claimed descent from the Chauhan dynasty of Ajmer. The fort served as a royal residence and stronghold for the ruling family, whose descendants retained control until Indian independence.

Though now in a state of disrepair, the fort still features notable Rajput architectural elements like carved arches and pillars, defensive structures, and hidden tunnels. The fort is associated with local legends and historical tales, including visits by Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru, who had ties to the area.

Presently, restoration and preservation efforts are ongoing to stabilize the structure and promote tourism, with the site offering a glimpse into the region’s royal and martial heritage amidst the scenic foothills of the Shivalik range. Visitors can also experience the local culture and festivals of Raipur Rani, a town that remains proud of its historical legacy.
