Ramkund Panchwati
Ramkund, located in the Panchavati area of Nashik, Maharashtra, is a sacred bathing tank on the banks of the Godavari River. It holds immense religious significance for Hindus, as it is believed to be the spot where Lord Rama took his bath during his exile. The tank, measuring 27 x 12 square meters, was constructed in 1696 by Chitrarao Khatarkar.
It is also known as Asthi Vilaya Tirtha, as immersing ashes in its waters is believed to grant salvation to the departed souls.
Adjacent to Ramkund is the Gandhi Talav, a memorial built in white marble to honor Mahatma Gandhi, whose ashes were immersed here after his passing in 1948. The area is surrounded by other significant sites, including the Kala Ram Mandir, Sita Gumpha, and Naroshankar Temple, making it a key pilgrimage destination.
