The fort is in the shape of a horseshoe and covers an area of approximately 120 acres. It is surrounded by the Arabian Sea on three sides, providing stunning views of the coastline. The fort is divided into three parts: the upper fort (Balekilla), the middle fort (Peth Fort), and the Parkot. The Parkot is the largest part and houses the Ratnagiri Lighthouse.
