Rohida Fort
Rohida Fort, also known as Vichitragad Fort, is a historic hill fort located about 10 kilometers from Bhor in Pune district, Maharashtra. The fort is an important historical site and has been restored with the help of the Shree Shivdurga Samvardhan committee, local villagers, and the forest department.
Built during the Yadava period, the fort was later repaired by Mohammed Adil Shah of Bijapur in May 1656. It was among the 23 forts handed over to the Mughals by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj as part of the Treaty of Purandar in 1665, but was recaptured by Shivaji Maharaj on June 24, 1670. The fort remained under the control of the Pant Sachivs, the ruling family of Bhor State, until Indian independence in 1947.
The trek to Rohida Fort starts from the base village of Bajarwadi, which is about 7 kilometers from Bhor. The trekking route is safe and wide, taking approximately an hour to reach the entrance gate of the fort.
The fort features three main gates, with the main entrance gate having a Ganesh patti and Miharab. There is also a rock-cut water cistern near the second gate, providing a year-round water source.
