The Salkhan Fossils Park, also known as the Sonbhadra Fossils Park, is located about 12 kilometers from Robertsganj, near Salkhan village on state highway SH5A in the Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh. The park spans around 25 hectares and is part of the Kaimur Range, adjacent to the Kaimoor Wildlife Sanctuary.
The fossils found in the park are estimated to be nearly 1.4 billion years old and include algae and stromatolites types of fossils. These ancient fossils are embedded in the rocks and appear as rings on the boulders. The park was formally inaugurated in 2002 and has since attracted geologists and researchers from around the world.
