Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple

Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, located in Srirangapatna near Mysuru, Karnataka, is a revered pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Ranganatha, a manifestation of Lord Vishnu. The temple, built around 984 CE by Tirumalaiah, a local chief under the Western Ganga dynasty, has undergone several renovations and expansions under various rulers, including the Hoysalas, Vijayanagara Empire, and the Wodeyars.

The temple's architecture is a blend of Hoysala and Vijayanagara styles, with intricate carvings and majestic gopurams. The main deity, Lord Ranganatha, is depicted in a reclining posture on a bed of the serpent Adisesha, with Goddess Lakshmi at his feet.

The temple complex also houses shrines dedicated to other deities such as Srinivasa, Ranganayaki, Rama, Narasimha, Sudarshana, Panchamukha Anjaneya, and Gopalakrishna.

Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple is one of the 108 Abhimana Kshetrams of the Vaishnavite tradition and is part of the Pancharanga Kshetrams, which are five important pilgrimage sites along the Kaveri River. The temple is situated on an island in the Kaveri River, adding to its serene and spiritual ambiance.

The annual Kotarothsava festival, celebrated with great fervor, attracts devotees from far and wide.
