Tadoba Andhari National Park

Tadoba Andhari National Park, located in Chandrapur district, Maharashtra, is the state's oldest and largest national park, covering about 625 square kilometers. It forms part of the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, which includes the Tadoba National Park and Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary. The reserve is named after the tribal god Tadoba (Taru) and the Andhari river that flows through it.

The park features diverse terrain with dense teak and bamboo forests, sprawling grasslands, deep valleys, and several water bodies like Tadoba Lake and Kolsa Lake, which support rich wildlife. It is especially famous for its thriving population of Bengal tigers, making it one of India's significant tiger reserves. Besides tigers, the sanctuary is home to leopards, sloth bears, gaur (Indian bison), nilgai, wild dogs, marsh crocodiles, and numerous bird species. The landscape includes hills, cliffs, caves, and meadows that provide shelter for a wide variety of animals.

The reserve is popular for wildlife safaris that offer opportunities to spot these animals in their natural habitat. Its ecology supports a complex and vibrant forest ecosystem, making it a vital area for conservation and wildlife tourism in India.
