Talao Pali

Talao Pali, also known as Masunda Lake, is a historic and scenic lake located in the heart of Thane, Maharashtra. Approximately 1,200 years old, it has been central to Thane’s identity as the "City of Lakes."

The lake features a small island with a Shiv temple and a statue of the Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Surrounded by well-maintained promenades and lush greenery, Talao Pali offers a peaceful retreat from the busy city, attracting locals and tourists for walks, boating, and water scooter rides. It is culturally vibrant, situated near the Gadkari Rangayatan theatre and serving as a focal point during festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, which includes idol immersion ceremonies.

The area around the lake has food stalls offering local snacks such as Misal Pav and Bhel Puri, making it a popular social and recreational spot. Though urbanization has posed challenges, local efforts keep the lake active and clean, preserving its role as a significant community and heritage site in Thane. There is no entry fee, and the lake is accessible throughout the day for various leisure activities.
