The Asiatic Society of Mumbai Town Hall is a historic building located on Shahid Bhagat Singh Road in the Fort area of South Mumbai. It was designed by Colonel Thomas Cowper of the Bombay Engineers and completed in 1833.
The building is an excellent example of Neoclassical architecture, inspired by Greek and Roman styles. It features a grand entrance with eight Doric-style pillars and a Grecian portico.
The Asiatic Society of Mumbai, housed within the Town Hall, is a learned society dedicated to the study of Asian cultures and history. It was originally founded as the Literary Society of Bombay in 1804 and later became affiliated with the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland in 1830.
