Thirumoorthy Temple
The Thirumoorthy Temple, also known as the Amanalingeswarar Temple, is situated at the foot of the Thirumoorthy Hills near the Thirumoorthy Dam in Udumalaipet, Coimbatore District, Tamil Nadu. The temple is believed to be around 1000 years old and is dedicated to Lord Shiva, known here as Amanalingeswarar.
The temple is associated with the legend of Sage Atri and his wife Anusuya Devi. According to the legend, the wives of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva were jealous of Anusuya's devotion to her husband and asked their husbands to test her.
The three gods came to Anusuya as guests and asked her to serve them food without wearing any clothes. Anusuya, realizing that the guests were divine, served them without hesitation, and the gods were transformed into children under her care.
