Tholkappia Poonga, also known as Adyar Eco-Park, is an ecological park set up by the Government of Tamil Nadu in the Adyar estuary area of Chennai. The park was inaugurated on January 22, 2011, by the then Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and is named after the renowned Tamil scholar Tholkappiar.
The park spans 358 acres and aims to restore the degraded Adyar Creek and its surrounding ecosystem. It features a tropical dense evergreen forest with over 160 woody species, including trees, shrubs, lianas, epiphytes, herbs, and tuberous species.
The park is designed to educate visitors about wetland conservation, eco-restoration, and water management.
