Watson's Hotel, also known as Esplanade Mansion, is a historic building located in the Kala Ghoda area of Mumbai, Maharashtra. Built between 1867 and 1869, it is India's oldest surviving cast-iron building and one of the oldest multi-level cast-iron framed buildings in the world.
The hotel was originally owned by John Watson, an English businessman, and was designed by civil engineer Rowland Mason Ordish.
The building was prefabricated in England and assembled on-site in Mumbai. It was initially a luxurious hotel catering to the British elite, featuring expansive balconies, a magnificent atrium, and an external cast-iron frame.
