Kishkindha Moolika Bonsai Garden
The Kishkindha Moolika Bonsai Garden, located within the premises of the Avadhoota Datta Peetham in Mysuru, Karnataka, is a serene and captivating attraction that showcases the ancient art of bonsai cultivation.
Established by Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji in 1986, the garden is spread over four acres and houses an impressive collection of over 450 meticulously pruned bonsai trees, representing a wide array of species. Each tree, some of which are over a hundred years old, is displayed with great care, reflecting the intricate artistry and dedication involved in bonsai cultivation.
The garden is divided into various sections, each reflecting different Indian traditions. The Rashi Vana Group consists of plants connected to the Indian zodiac system, while the Raga Vana features plants associated with Indian classical music.
The Nakshatra Vana represents the 27 stars of traditional Indian astrology, and the Panchayatana Vana displays five plant gardens linked to the concept of the Mother Goddess. Additionally, there is the Saptarishi Vana, which showcases seven plants associated with the seven Indian sages.
The garden also features a deer park and a huge terracotta stupa where regular poojas are held. For those interested in exploring more of Mysuru, nearby attractions include the Sri Nandi Bull Temple, Karanji Lake Butterfly Park, Curzon Park, and the Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens (Mysore Zoo).
