Vikatgad Peb Fort

Vikatgad, also known as Peb Fort, is a charming hill fort located near Neral in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. Nestled at an altitude of approximately 640 meters (2,100 feet) above sea level, it offers a panoramic view of the entire Matheran range, including the mesmerizing Kalavantin and Prabalgad forts, and the surrounding landscapes.

The fort is named after the goddess Pebi Devi, and it features a series of rock-cut steps, small caves, and a lot of historical significance. These trails are of varying difficulty, making the fort an exciting destination for both amateur and seasoned trekkers. One of the fascinating features is the climb via the narrow northern approach, which adds a thrilling element to the adventure.

The trek to Vikatgad starts at Neral or Panvel, with routes offering breathtaking views of the dense forests and ravines. The trek typically takes a few hours and is best enjoyed during the monsoon when the surroundings are lush and green, providing a refreshing setting for trekkers.

At the top, you'll find a small temple dedicated to Swami Samarth, adding a spiritual touch to the journey.
